Happy New Year everyone!

Resolutions? Just a few things I will do, without any accent of the improbable…that’s why I prefer not to call them ‘resolutions’.

I will not blog as much as before, hardly ever – it’s old. I’d rather read a book (that’s a resolution though).

I will launch a tiny online boutique dedicated to local music releases, diy zines, objects  and clothing, naturally. Nothing you’ve ever heard about, but still quality products conceived with as much soul as skill.

I will finally go to a hairdresser.

I will train a steady hand sewing, learn to use the correct tools like a hem foot, and provide my tiny atelier with all the necessary paraphernalia…making samples – the world domination plans are for the anno 2013…and will probably remain a ‘resolution’.

in this time of the year i never do much effort to make my place look like it's christmas, but i do so much effort to decorate it in the most puzzling way ever and call all this oddness christmas decoration.

in my world snowflakes are square.

have you ever loved someone so much that you were out of control? every day like for the first time.

I’ve been contemplating for a while on one very old but obsessive idea…something I wanted to create, but never found a physical space for. Now the world of internet comes in handy, it’s giving out virtual spaces almost free of charge.

So I’m putting together an online boutique – simple, basic, but very much loved and tended with care. I’m searching for deco objects, music, zines, apparel, silkscreen prints and handmade accessories. I’m very inspired by the north, infested with private online shops where, mostly women, sell all the lovely stuff they create. Mommies on a parental leave, yeah, but all with the best artistic education ever…just check varpunen.bigcartel.com for instance.

Annie Larson is my idol too, and the humble Stand Up Comedy boutique from Portland, Oregon.

I plan to function in themed editions and a small selection, right enough for the moment in time. And the best way to know when and where it will happen, watch this space!

COS spring/summer 2012 lookbook

my page got some blogger bug... i really hope it's over now, because i have just so much to tell!

Some simple and predictable freshness from COS. I like the blues and the greens, but I hope to see some rust or ochre appear here and there. It’s the 90’s sort of cleanness, without any fuss or unnecessary details…but there are no exceptional pieces either – it’s the combination that grabs the attention: the printed suit with shorts or a flood-length printed trousers and an extreme shoulder navy top. I’m not sure if this sterile and grown-up fashion is tailor-made for my taste, but COS lookbooks are always just a deviation from reality of a large surface high-street boutique filled with hits and misses of the current fashion consumerism. I’m rather sure to buy my entire wardrobe at COS….again!

HOW TO BE A PERFECT LIVE BAND tutorial

(administered by Gable at Beurscafe last night)

• start slow, like any other band kneeling on the floor and fiddling with extraterrestrially complicated equipment.

• entertain your public by blowing into two flutes simultaneously.

• make sure your guitar is missing some strings and is tied with a cord.

• swap, sample, interact. Put 'Bonsoir Bruxelles' on a loop.

• buy your instruments in a toy store, choose brightly coloured ones.

• do the foot action.

• put a cat sticker  on your guitar
• grab a bunch of unnecessary stuff and use it as a drum effect.

(always employ the key of your hotel room as a music instrument)

• tear a wooden crate in pieces, smash it on your head for a more convincing stage action (only while pretending you are a drunk fox in London)

• do more floor action, amongst the debris.

• NEVER forget Elvis.

• give up trying to be cool! just go see Gable do their thing.

I’ve been feeling like a Handy Mandy again. My dream to have a coloured cord with a simple bulb as a hanging light above the dining table, all fuelled by the countless appearances on  Scandinavian design blogs of course, finally came true. I made it all myself – something completely new and strange to me. It’s not as easy as it seems though - the woven electric cord needed plenty of fiddling with, preventing it from shedding, not twisting it, plus the porcelain socket got blocked, chipped off…literally – a pain to handle. The result is a slightly askew, but joyous little lamp. I’ll go back to the electric supplies shop when the occasion comes  to buy a new socket, and try my best fitting it well next time.

OM IS OM bowling and sound festival

Yesterday we went bowling…we are the 70 eager bowlers (to coin the term) who have ventured out to Jette for an evening of gigs and games organised by KRAAK.  We should do this more often as an exercise of the international team spirit - people came from all over Belgium and beyond! And can you believe I got through into the finals? Now I really wonder how the Cut The Cute(yes, the first thing that came out when I’ve been asked the player nick-name) impostor got along… what I pity to leave before the final game, I got one British guy to play in the name of this blog and all things silly. I hope he did well.

i would really like to take some pictures of my apartment and have them published on some interior design blog. not that my interior is extraordinary, but the rooms are bright and inviting, so why not share.
and while i'm getting carried away dreaming, here are the pictures of my new drawing and the creative mess of the home office.
